Champ’s Pick! Award

What is the Champ’s Pick! Award?

The purpose of this award is to provide students equitable access to advance through the Ohio History Day competition levels. By providing students the opportunity to move on to the State contest, we hope to create a more diverse number of schools with strong History Day projects.

Eligibility:

  • The school must offer the History Day program and field at least 3 entries during the current contest year.
  • The nominated entry must compete in the regional contest.
  • Each school may nominate one (1) entry.
  • If any entry from a school advances to state by placing as a regional champion, that school will not be eligible for the “Champ’s Pick!” award.
  • Independent students are not eligible.

How to Apply:

To apply, teachers must identify one entry from any category to be their school’s top project, and submit that project to your regional coordinator via email/mail (subject heading “Champs Pick”.) Nominations are due 1 week prior (February 25, 2022) to the regional contest on March 5, 2022. Please include the following information with your project submission:

  • Name of School
  • Your (Teacher) Name
  • Project Title
  • Category
  • Student Name(s)

Selection Process:

If, in the judging process, no entries from an eligible school advance to the State Contest, that school’s nomination will win a Champ’s Pick! Award. The recipients of this award will automatically advance to the State competition, held on Saturday April 23, 2022. Students who are selected for this award will be notified at the regional contest.

Teacher to Dos:

  • Identify the 1 project you wish to nominate to represent your school
  • Send in your nomination to your regional coordinator (sitemanager@johnstonfarmohio.com)
  • Nominations are due 1 week prior (February 25, 2022) to the regional contest on March 5, 2022
